Dawnetta Hayes

Dawn Hayes is a 6th grade reading teacher in Cincinnati. She is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati where she earned a B.A. in History, a B.S. in Elementary Education, an M.Ed. in Educational Administration, and an Ed.D. in Urban Educational Leadership. She is a licensed Montessori teacher and has over 21 years of classroom experience in developing strategy-focused interventions to help support student learning.

Her passion and commitment towards educating students has been noted near and far. She was selected as a Rising Star by the YWCA of Greater Cincinnati and voted a Leader for the Future by the Reaching For the Stars program. She is an honored recipient of the National Geographic Grosvenor Teacher Fellow, a prestigious award given to teachers who demonstrate excellence in geographic literacy in the classroom. She loves reading and is known for bringing literature to life for her students and creating enriching activities focused on meeting the academic, emotional, and social needs of young and adolescent learners.

Outside of teaching, Dawnetta loves reading on her front porch, attending Broadway plays, working in her flower garden, skiing, traveling, and exercising her carpentry skills in her backyard.
