It’s a fact: snacks make everything better. Whether you’re on the go, traveling, or just hanging out at home, snacks are a must. We can all agree, a fed child is a happier child. As parents, we do our best to choose snacks that are both tasty and (at least somewhat) healthy. And I think we all have felt the snack rut hit and want some fresh ideas. Here are some of our favorite kid- and parent-approved snacks that are not only delicious and wholesome but also easy to pack for all your adventures!
Fruit Snacks
Fruit snacks are a sweet, easy-to-pack treat that kids love—but choose wisely to avoid a sugar overload! The Froot Thief Real Fruit Whips are sweet, fun to eat, and free of artificial additives. Think of them as pull-and-peel licorice—without the junk. A couple more chewy, better-for-you options are Solely Fruit Gummies and Fruit Jerky and Bear Snacks. With several fruity flavors to choose from, these are a guilt-free treat your kids will be excited about.
Bars
Bars are a portable, filling snack perfect for any time of day. If your child loves a touch of chocolate, Made Good, Aloha bars (cookie dough is my personal favorite), or Happy Wolf bars are always a hit. Bobo’s bars are a satisfying and filling bar (these are great if you’re nursing too!) Looking for something fruity? That’s It bars or Skout Organic bars are great options too. All of these are made with simple, nourishing ingredients—so they’re snacks you’ll feel good about offering.
Pouches
When it comes to convenience, pouches are hard to beat. Two of our go-to picks are Siggi’s Yogurt Pouches (a great source of protein) and anything from Once Upon a Farm. To make pouch time less messy, we love these clever reusable pouch lids that help prevent spills—even when your little one gives them a mighty squeeze!
Crunchy Snacks
Crunchy snacks are perfect for keeping little hands busy—especially during travel. Try Hippeas Chickpea Puffs for a healthier twist on the classic puff or cheese snack. The Good Crisp Company’s Outback BBQ Chips are a better-for-you alternative to Pringles (yes, they still work for making silly duck beaks!). For something veggie-based, From the Ground Up Puffed Veggie Sticks will satisfy any salty craving. And for a crunchy sweet treat, Made Good Granola Minis—shaped like tiny balls—are as fun as they are delicious. Finally, freeze dried fruit is a sweet, but crunchy option that is always a hit with kids!
Tried and True Snack Containers
Having the right snack containers makes a world of difference when you’re on the move. We love these Bentgo boxes with dividers and lids for packing multiple snacks. Their fun colors and compartments make snack time extra exciting! For a plastic free option, stainless steel containers with silicone lids are perfect for all occasions. And when it comes to drinks or smoothies, Elk and Friends cups—available in both glass and stainless steel—are spill-proof, durable, and made with parent-approved materials.
