How does Easter sneak up on us every year?! One minute it’s Valentine’s Day, and the next I’m digging through closets trying to find the baskets I definitely put in a “safe spot” I wouldn’t forget…
If you’re anything like me, you want Easter baskets to feel magical—but also practical, intentional, and not overloaded with candy. After a few years of playing Easter Bunny, I finally feel like I’ve landed on a system that works. Here’s exactly what I’m doing this year.
Everyday Essentials
These are items I always include–things we need anyway, just made a little more fun. First up, we’re definitely in the “skinned knee time of year,” so I always stock up on these bandaids with such fun designs kids actually don’t mind wearing them. This is also when I notice our pajamas are getting a little snug, and I can never resist a sweet spring pattern like this. And honestly, who can say no to a sky blue print or a classic seersucker moment?
Not to mention, after a few good spring thunderstorms, the rain boots are probably ready for an upgrade and these come in a ton of colors and come with a grip for little ones to get on and off.
Book Basket Basics
As someone who values a good book–physical or audio–I can never resist adding a few to our basket. I usually include a mix of a classic, something seasonal, something new, and a new favorite I know we’ll read on repeat. And of course, a Yoto card (or two) always makes its way in for easy, screen-free listening.

Outdoor Favorites
With spring right around the corner, I’m always looking for simple ways to get my kids outside. These are the kinds of easy, go-to favorites that get used immediately and keep them busy longer than you’d expect—especially when I can put a fresh twist on something I know they already love. I’ll usually add one summer item like this too, just to build a little excitement for what’s coming.
Seasonal Accessories
I don’t know about you, but I’m always a sucker for the little extras like this that just feel like my kids. These are the fun, seasonal pieces that aren’t necessary—but somehow make the whole basket feel more complete and a little more magical.
Bonus: The Save Your Sanity Starter Pack
Easter weekend is usually packed with plans—brunch, family gatherings, maybe even a little trip—so chances are you’ll be out and about. If we’re heading somewhere that requires a little extra patience, I always sneak in a couple of small things like this that I can pull out when needed. It’s always fun when I can find a new version of something I know my kids already love—like this set that builds on what we already have. These quiet, mess-free favorites are small enough to fit in my bag but can buy me a few extra peaceful minutes.

Final Thoughts
Easter baskets don’t have to be over the top, complicated or filled with sugar to feel magical. By adding a thoughtful mix of practical items, play based favorites, and a few seasonal touches, you can create something your kids will enjoy long after Easter morning.
